‘06-museum’, in collaboration with Michiel van der Werf at Expo Bart, Nijmegen, NL.

06-MUSEUM
Since the Stone Age, human contact was primarily based on physical communication, However, with the revolution of the smartphone, we have become inseparable from this irresistible little device. Today, 96% of Dutch people own one, and 1 in 3 Dutch individuals would rather give up sex than live without their phone. On average, we spend 15 years of our lives using it. It wakes you up in the morning, maps your journey, plays your music, entertains you on the toilet, tells you the time, and reminds you of your appointments. It makes calls, answers all your questions and even proves that you really did see the Mona Lisa.
Your smartphone is always at your service, but at the 06-MUSEUM, created by Michiel van der Werf and Danny Foolen, you will be briefly separated from it. Here, only your mobile phone can fit through the front door. During this fantastical museum flight, your phone will visit more than 10 rooms on its own, recording the journey on film. Meanwhile, with your hands finally free for a moment, you can interact from backstage—perhaps by sticking a finger through a window or wriggling your hand inside—to give your phone an unforgettable experience.
To discover all the works of art your phone has managed to capture, you’ll have to patiently wait for it to exit the museum through the gift shop. Afterward, you can play it back as many times as you like.
